Eiji Shibata is Managing Director and Head of Japan at AURELIUS. In this role, he is responsible for establishing AURELIUS’ permanent presence in Tokyo and leading its private equity investment activities in the region, with a particular focus on international carve-outs from Japanese corporates.

He is a highly experienced, bilingual investment professional with almost 25 years of private equity and M&A advisory expertise at leading global institutions, including Goldman Sachs, Barclays and Permira. Over the course of his career, he has developed a strong track record in executing complex cross-border transactions and partnering with both Japanese corporates and international financial sponsors.

Before joining AURELIUS, Eiji worked at Japan Post Investment Corporation, one of Asia’s leading institutional investors, where he was responsible for co-investments across the region. Eiji holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, USA.
