ConverterTec (previously Woodward Renewable Power Systems) is a manufacturer of converters and electronic components for the wind power industry and a supplier of spare parts and service (Aftermarket & Service segment). ConverterTec has its origins in the company SEG, which was founded in 1969. It belonged to the U.S. Woodward company from 2006 to 2020. The company is based in Kempen, Germany. ConverterTec also operates a production and development site in Krakow, Poland, and a development site in Sofa, Bulgaria. The Aftermarket & Service Division is managed from the Kempen site and is staffed by employees from Kempen, Sofa, and the four service centers in the United States, Brazil, Japan and India.

Head of Procurement (m/f/d)

Position Purpose
Accountable for multi-commodity procurement performance for ConverterTec/SEG in Germany and Poland. Performance includes both strategic and operational performance elements. Strategic elements include the strategic development of new market sectors in coordination with the leadership team. Strategic elements include also the execution of spend improvements projects (EBITDA and WC) and to improve structurally the supply chain in a leading position with other departments of the ConverterTec/SEG business. Operational performance includes security of supply, quality and delivery performance.

Essential Functions

  • Development and execution of supply chain strategies across multiple commodities for total ConverterTec/SEG impact and contribution.

  • Drive financial analysis and spend transparency to optimize strategies and impact.

  • Own and manage implementation of saving initiatives for all commodities- drive results while enabling and supporting balance of team and organizations needs and concerns.

  • Typical total spend accountability in the €20M-$40M in direct and indirect categories.

  • Establishes and maintains strategic working relationships with key suppliers within supply chain.

  • Accountable for commercial relationships (contracts) as well as risk mitigation within supply base to protect ConverterTec’s/SEG 's ability to fulfill customer requirements.

  • Drive win-win solutions with supply base to support objectives.

  • Direct management of procurement staff across various sites in different countries.

  • Train procurement team members regarding commodity management, supplier management and project purchasing.

  • Provides guidance and accountability for execution of strategies and plans to ensure goals are obtained.

  • Develop and maintain internal relationships with the leadership team at ConverterTec/SEG to ensure alignment of strategies and collaborative work environment.

  • Provide clear direction and communication of vision and strategies to the larger ConverterTec/SEG organization to drive alignment and understanding.

  • Drive environment of continuous improvement in procurement processes and procedures.

  • Have a good understanding of overall business, products, markets, and operations.

Education or Formal Training

  • 4 year college degree required (Technical or Business)

  • MBA is a plus

Experience Required

Role requires a mix of general team management and leading (min 8 FTE`s) via different countries combined with intensive procurement experience in the electronical market. Base requirement is to meet one of the following, while both are a plus:

  • 10+ years procurement experience with global exposure combined with a proper understanding of electronical markets (preferred in the alternative energy market) (min 2 years direct involvement), or
  • 10+ years experience in electronical markets (preferred in the alternative energy market) with proper procurement experience (min 3 years in a leading role)
