AURELIUS is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our products and business activities by acting in an ecologically responsible manner and using meticulous processes.
Focus topics climate protection, biodiversity and circular economy
It is our goal to keep pollution levels to a minimum and thereby permanently increase our contribution to environmental protection. As the size of our company continues to grow, we strive to increasingly include ecological aspects in our decisions and have anchored this accordingly in our so-called ESG-Richtlinie (Download PDF, English).
The main environmental challenges for AURELIUS are energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as environmentally friendly mobility. In cooperation with atmosfair, we have already made significant progress in this area over recent years. Furthermore, AURELIUS has identified climate protection, biodiversity and circular economy as the most important environmental topics for our portfolio companies and work together with them to make further progress within these three key areas.
Environmental aspects in the acquisition process
We avoid investing in emission-intensive companies or in companies that have a significantly negative impact on biodiversity. During the acquisition process, it is ensured that the respective company complies with all local statutory requirements for plant safety and environmental protection, can demonstrate this accordingly, and has taken the necessary precautions to avoid environmental damage.
Environmental awareness in the Group companies
AURELIUS promotes environmental awareness and supports its Group companies in actively addressing environmental issues and professionally managing the potential impact of our business activities. Local managing directors are encouraged to use natural resources responsibly and, where possible, to develop appropriate measures to conserve resources.
We expect our Group companies to strictly comply with the environmental legislation in their respective locations and to avoid environmental damage through professional risk management. The consumption of energy, hazardous substances and water is to be reduced. Waste generation is to be avoided or, where this is not possible, minimised. The Group companies are required to strive for the highest possible reuse and recycling rates.
AURELIUS expects all responsible managers to continuously identify environmental risk and opportunity in all portfolio companies, processes, products and supply chains, to reduce risk and/or create value, with a view to impact long-term sustainable change. Such risks could concern a range of factors including resource use/depletion, water scarcity, waste production and disposal; emissions to air, land and water; energy use, cost of carbon and climate change; biodiversity and habitat conservation. Conversely, environmental opportunities may include energy (or other resource) efficiencies, waste reduction or the development of new products with positive environmental attributes.
