Munich/London, October 1, 2026 – AURELIUS, a global alternative investor distinguished and widely recognised for its operational approach, has hired two partners to help expand its footprint in European business services.

Marc Arens joins the Munich team today as a seasoned PE professional, having spent 18 years of his career at Equistone Partners Europe, most recently as Senior Partner and Country Head DACH and Netherlands.

Timo Lieber joined AURELIUS in London from Intertek plc, where he turned around and scaled businesses, most recently as CEO Nordics and VP Europe & Central Asia. Previously, Timo was Chief Innovation Officer, launching several of Intertek’s key innovations in the TIC space. Timo started his career as an M&A banker at Morgan Stanley and later joined Greenhill & Co.

The business services segment they will cover benefits from strong underlying fundamentals and provides a compelling platform for AURELIUS to apply its capabilities in operational value creation and buy-and-build.

“AURELIUS looks back at more than 20 years of improving the operational and financial performance of midcap companies around the world. It also looks back on a proud, 10-year history of investing in strong, growing small-cap companies in Europe, with a view to turning them into international champions through buy-and-build”, says Dirk Markus, AURELIUS Co-founder. “Expanding our footprint into business services will combine our two main skillsets – AURELIUS WaterRise’s operational improvement expertise, plus AURELIUS Growth’s expertise in building and growing enterprises. I wish our two new colleagues – and all of us at AURELIUS – all the best.”

“What drew me to AURELIUS is its entrepreneurial DNA: flat structures, fast decisions and a genuine willingness to work shoulder to shoulder with management teams. European business services is an attractive space in the market where I think AURELIUS can add a lot of value – by combining accelerated buy-and-build with deep, hands-on operational capability,” adds Marc Arens.

“I’m delighted to join AURELIUS, a team I have known and respected for many years. With strong momentum across European business services, this is the right time to expand our remit. We see tremendous opportunities ahead and are focused on establishing AURELIUS as a trusted, hands-on partner to sellers and management teams seeking to accelerate growth and enhance operating performance” comments Timo Lieber.
